Palpation of supraorbital ridges and frontal bones on vaginal examination
indicate a brow presentation, which is not compatible with vaginal delivery. The
presenting diameter which is the mentovertical diameter measures 13.5 cm and is
too large to go through the pelvis. Therefore, a caesarean section has to be performed.
All the other findings are compatible with vaginal delivery, in the absence of any other complications. Palpation of the anterior fontanelle indicates an occipito-posterior position, which can go through labour in the absence of any other complications.
Approximation of the suture lines and caput formation occur in labour and are
not indications for immediate caesarean section. Eyes, nose and mouth are
palpated in face presentation and it is not an indication for caesarean section, if the
position is mento-anterior.
