Carbohydrates – Good carbohydrates are essential, so grains like whole wheat, barley, millet, oats and sweet potatoes should be included in your diet.

Protein intake should be increased, so things like moong dal, tur dal, soya, kidney beans, chickpeas and sprouts should be taken in your diet.

Dairy products like milk, organic / low fat cheese, paneer, buttermilk, curd should be taken regularly.
Fat must be taken in small amounts.

Vitamin A, C, D, B12 and folic acid are needed in high amounts, so it is advisable to include green leafy vegetables like fenugreek, fenugreek, spinach etc. in your diet.

Carrots, pumpkins, tomatoes and yellow and orange vegetables like lemon, orange, guava and amla are also very important.

Iron should also be increased in your diet, so definitely eat jaggery, raisins and dates.

For the production of breast milk, you should consume more and more liquid things in your diet.

During breastfeeding, take at least four liters of water daily, which includes butter, lentils, soups and juices.

  • Some things should be avoided in your diet as it can harm the health of both mother and child. Such as alcohol, as it can pass from the mother’s milk to the child’s body and cause permanent neurological damage, the effects of which can be seen in later life.
  • Fish, as it contains many metals, such as mercury which negatively affects the neurological function of the baby.
  • Citric fruits, peppers and eggs can may cause adverse reactions.
  • Mints reduce milk production.
  • Avoid tea and coffee as caffeine disturbs your baby’s sleep which can make him irritable.
  • Avoid gas-producing foods like onions, cabbage, garlic and broccoli. Excessive gas will upset the baby and these foods also affect milk production.
  • Processed foods should be avoided as they contain a lot of preservatives and artificial colours, which is not good for young children.
  • Peanuts can cause allergic reactions in some children.
